There are numerous stone quarries on the island where locals were taking a stone and selling it in the wide area of Dalmatia.

The most beautiful of the public and private buildings in Croatian towns Hvar, Orebic, Dubrovnik, Cavtat and Kotor are also built from this stone.

In front of one of the quarries there is the old church that was built in 1674.

Very close to the waterfront, there is the new church of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, built in 1856. Vrnik is inhabited island but only a couple of families these days permanently live here.

There are two restaurants on the island but we will take food and drink with us to have a meal on this trip.

We will take you to the island by our small motorboat that can accommodate up to 6 persons. The boat ride is about 20 to 30 minutes each way, depending on where we start. The start of the trip is at 10:00.

If you wish, we will pick you up at the nearest point to your accommodation or in a local marina in Korcula town or in Lumbarda. If you are staying in Orebic, Viganj or Kuciste it takes a bit longer but we can still do it.

If you are staying away from the coast, in the are of Zrnovo, Punat, Cara, Smokvica you can get a taxi or a bus to join our trip.

Our guide and skipper will look after the boat and prepare the meal while you swim, sunbathe, snorkel or relax on the island’s beach. After the lunch, we will go for a short hike to explore the remains of stone quarries, visit a little village and local souvenir shop.

Just before we leave the island we will have another hour for swimming or snorkelling. The boat ride back home will be at about 17:00.
